The invention relates to an axle measuring device and method wherein the angle (14) between the wheel (15a, 15b) of a motor vehicle and a reference direction (20) is determined. The angle (14) is detected by means of a transmitter (10) containing at least one rotation speed sensor (11). The transmitter (10) is arranged in such a way that it assumes a known position in relation to the reference direction (20). The angle (14) obtained from the transmitter (10) arranged on the wheel (15a, 15b) of the vehicle indicates the trail angle and/or the king pin angle of said wheel (15a, 15b).
