Frequency generation system especially for electronic signal and data processing circuit

The frequency generation system allows at least one target frequency to be obtained from a basic frequency (fg), provided via a quartz oscillator (8), via frequency division using a respective division factor for each target frequency. The fractional division factor is obtained by addition of two weighted whole number division factors. The weighting is preferably selected so that the fractional division factor corresponds to their mean value. Preferably the oscillator frequency is supplied as a digital input to a divider stage (2) with at least one intermediate memory (3,4) holding the division factor in the form of a n-bit control word.
