PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a finite element dividing method that accurately performs stress simulation by adjusting the variation rate of the division density of a closed area. SOLUTION: A user designatesρdesignating a variation rate of division density for an area of a finite element to be divided as a roughness/denseness coefficient. On the basis of thisρ, a distribution function f(γ,ρ) representing the density of a shell element is determined. Then, the number of nodes on an inter-line curve dividing the part between a dot sequence 1 and a dot sequence 2 is determined on the basis of the distribution function f(γ,ρ). The user can adjust the number of nodes provided on the inter-line curve by varying the value ofρ. Through this adjustment, the variation rate of the division density of mesh elements in the area is freely adjusted to perform accurate stress simulation, etc. Further, since the variation in the division density can be varied according to the purpose, no unnecessary calculation is unwillingly performed.
