PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a side collision protecting device including a bulkhead located inside and a gas sack furnished with a main stream opening provided in the bulkhead in dislocated with respect to a gas generator, wherein the gas sack is inflated and takes the ideal operating position. SOLUTION: Viewing on the side elevation, a gas sack 6 is rotated for an angleαwith respect to a gas generator or a casing 4 in the position A where the gas sack 6 is installed. That is, the gas sack 6 is installed upon being rotated in the opposite direction to the action of a rising moment working at inflation of the gas sack 6. Thereby the moment generated when the gas sack is inflated is canceled, and the inflated gas sack 6 will never move forward beyond the ideal operating position specified therefore, which should lead to enhancement of the operating certainty or safety of the side collision protecting device.
