A device for separating a liquid, in particular from pressurized mixtures of solids and liquids, in particular suspensions of fibrous materials, has a solid material retaining member provided with liquid passages which consists of a sieve and of a support for the sieve. The invention is mainly characterized in that the solid material retaining member is multilayered. The layer which faces the mixture of solids and liquids is designed as a sieve with passages and the layer opposite to the mixture of solids and liquids is designed as a support with slit-shaped passages. Also disclosed is a device according to the invention designed as a worm extruder.
