Two-component loop yarn consists of (A) stayer and (B) effect filaments, with at least part, pref. the whole, of component (A) made from aromatic polyamide contg. repeating units of formula -OC-Ar<1>-CO-NH-Ar<2>-NH- (I) and -OC-Ar<1>-CO-NH-Ar<3>-NH- (II), with the various monomers selected to give a polyimide which is soluble in organic solvents, pref. forming isotropic solns.: Ar<3>-Ar<3> = di- or multi-valent aromatic gps. with free valencies in the p- or m- position or in corresp. parallel, coaxial or angled positions, Ar<2> and Ar<3> being different from one another. Also claimed is a process for the prodn. of this yarn.
