PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve a capacity realization factor and cycle characteristics, by using, as at least one of a positive-electrode active material and a negative-electrode active material, a polymer-carbon composite composition made by coating surfaces of powdery carbon with an organic compound polymer capable of electrochemically adsorbing/ desorbing protons. SOLUTION: Preferably, a composite composition is produced, by chemically polymerizing an organic compound monomer such as a π-conjugate high-polymer including nitrogen atoms, for example, in the form of an amino group, under the existence of powdery carbon such as a conductive assistant, or dispersing powdery carbon in a solution thereof and then removing a solvent. Because a polymer, that is an active material, covers surfaces of carbon particles and is compounded therewith, therefore satisfactory electronic conductivity is ensured over the whole area of an electrode, carbon powder as conductive assistant becomes useless, and the active material is increased. A structural change of the active material due to adsorption/desorption of protons smaller in ion size than alkali metal ions as charge carriers, and an increase in contact resistance of boundary faces between the electrode and the active material following a volume change, are suppressed, and the active material and the carbon are firmly joined with each other by enlarged contact areas. |
