The inner layer has an upper portion 12 for forming an upper portion of a container, an intermediate portion 14 and 16 adjacent to the upper portion for forming an intermediate portion of a container, the thickness of which is more than the upper portion thickness and adjacent to the intermediate portion a base portion 18 for forming a base portion of a container, the thickness of which is more than the thickness of the intermediate portion. Between the inner and outer layers can be disposed a barrier layer 22, wherein the layers are co-extruded for forming the preform and an outer injection molded layer. In one embodiment the inner layer includes a lip 28 which overlaps the top edge of the barrier and outer layers. A multi-layer container 58 is then formable by blow molding the preform. 3.
