PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a clock supply system in an ATM exchange network where it is not required to register in advance a clock extract channel on the occurrence of a channel fault or the like and the clock supply channel is automatically selected. SOLUTION: This clock supply system compares an informed address of a clock supply device with contents of an information storage memory (41). When the clock supply device differs (NO in 41), the system compares the informed priority with a current priority level (42). When the informed priority level is higher (YES in 42), a routing function is utilized to set a clock supply line to a clock extraction device (43). A switching information storage memory is updated (44). The system informs again an adjacent station of clock supply switch information (45).
