<p>A method and device in accordance with the present invention enabling detecting mechanical and structural properties of the breast tissue (10) that are indicative of breast cancer. Detection of nodules is achieved by placing the breast (8) into a mechanical scanning unit (13) comprising of a two-dimensional pressure sensor array (33) and a mobile linear pressure sensor array (14) located opposite to the two-dimensional pressure sensor array (33), and analyzing the signals from the pressure sensors (14, 33).</p> |
