PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To store a built-in memory in a restricted storage space without causing the deterioration of a beautiful appearance. SOLUTION: A cartridge 1 is provided with a recording medium 8 on which various kinds of data can be recorded, a built-in memory 5 having a connection terminal at the side of a memory for data input and output, and a case 2 in which a through hole 10 is formed for inserting a reference pin for positioning or a pin for medium identification of a recording and reproducing device, and which can store the recording medium 8 and the built-in memory 5. The built-in memory 5 is arranged at the back side of the through hole 10 so that a connection terminal at the side of the device formed on any pins to be inserted into the through hole 10 can contact the connection terminal at the side of the memory.
