PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a clamping device with a powerful tensile force. SOLUTION: An annular hydraulic piston 11 is inserted in a vertically movable manner in a cylinder hole 10 of a housing 4, and a driven rod 6 is inserted in a cylinder hole 11a of the piston 11. An input part 6a is provided at the upper end of the driven rod 6. A plurality of transmission members 15 are circumferentially arranged around the input part 6a, and an engaging part 17 is provided at the lower end of each transmission member 15. The transmission member 15 is swung into a radially outward engagement release position Y by the energizing force of a lowering spring 31 through a pressing member 30. Then an inclined cam 27 provided at a sleeve 26 swings the transmission member 15 into a radially inward engaging position to allow the engaging part 17 to face the input part 6a, and then the piston 11 drives the input part 6a upward through the engaging part 17.
