PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a gate rod for railroad crossing equipped with an enhanced visibility and capable of coupling different rod portions simply and certainly. SOLUTION: The gate rod for railroad crossing consists of a plurality of rod portions whose end parts adjoining in the axial direction are fitted one into the other, wherein the outside diameters of different rod portions 2, 3 and 4 are made approximately uniform, and each rod portion is furnished at one end with an inner coupling cylinder 7 to be fitted into the mating end of adjoining bar portion, and the inner cylinder is furnished with a projection 11 to be protruded by an energizing member from the peripheral surface of the inner cylinder outward in the radial direction, and the mating end of adjoining bar portion is provided with a through hole 15 in which the projection is fitted when coupling is to be generated.
