PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an encountered collision preventing support device for predicting the braking distance of a vehicle and, when an encountered collision is predicted including such a case that a road surface state varies during the braking, providing information, warning, and operational support to a driver. SOLUTION: The information, warning, and operation support are provided to the driver at a proper timing for preventing the encountered collision by predicting the braking distance of the vehicle from the information on the forward road surface state and the varied points thereof provided from a road side sensor and a road surface state sensor through road-vehicle communication devices 2 and 3 with a variation in forward road condition taken into account.
