PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To produce a relatively inexpensive autothermal reforming catalyst hard to generate the precipitation of carbon even under a condition of a low steam/carbon ratio in an autothermal reforming reaction and excellent in heat resistance in the coexistence of oxygen. SOLUTION: The autothermal reforming catalyst is obtained by supporting ruthenium on a carrier containing 5-40 mass% of cerium oxide or a rare earth element oxide based on cerium oxide, 60-95 mass% of aluminum oxide and 0-10 mass% of at least one kind of element selected from alkali metals and alkaline earth metals as metal equivalent. An atomic ratio (Ce/Ru) of cerium to ruthenium is 1-250. |
