摘要 PURPOSE: A gas exhausting structure of an inflator is provided to prevent an accident caused by an air bag by controlling the amount of exhausted gas according to the weight of a passenger. CONSTITUTION: In an inflator(10) for inflating an air bag cushion with gas, a first valve(21) and a second valve(22) are formed at one end of the inflator. A pair of first and second pipes(11,12) for supplying gas to the air bag cushion are installed at the first valve and the second valve, and are opened/closed by the first valve and the second valve, respectively. A sensor is mounted to a seat, and measures the weight of a passenger. A control unit receives a signal from the sensor, and selectively controls the opening of the first and second valves according to the weight of the passenger to prevent the passenger from being injured by the inflation of an air bag. The control unit opens the first valve if the weight of the passenger is less than 30 to 40Kg, and opens the first valve and the second valve simultaneously if the weight of the passenger is more than 30 to 40Kg.
