PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical semiconductor device in which a light-transmissive lid body hermetically sealing an optical semiconductor element is hardly scratched and the optical semiconductor element is enabled to accurately receive external light for a long period. SOLUTION: This optical semiconductor device 9 is provided with an insulating substrate 1 having a recessed section 1a for housing and mounting the optical semiconductor element 3 on its top surface; wiring conductors 2 led out from the inside of the recessed section 1a of the substrate 1, and the optical semiconductor element 3 which is mounted on the bottom face of the recessed section 1a of the substrate 1, in a state where the element 3 is bonded to the bottom face and, at the same time, the electrodes 4 of which are electrically connected to the wiring conductors 2. The device 9 is also provided with the light-guide lid body 5 which is attached to the top surface of the substrate 1 to shut up the recessed section 1a through a bonding material 7.
