Is disclosed a method of suppression of dust formation and stabilization of the surface of red mud storage, which includes spraying of the surface of mud storage by aqueous solution of sulfuric acid with concentration of 5.0 g/l, at normal rate of 1 t of solution per 0.2 ha of surface. After this, matting is carried out for processed surface by preliminarily prepared layer of the mat with a thickness of 5-7 cm on the basis of herbage, which includes 4-6 components from the family of gramineous, loaches, carnation and, at least, one component of the family of legumes. The method also in-addition provides for use of 3-5 cm thick reed mats.
