<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal display device that can improve the image quality of a moving image. <P>SOLUTION: The liquid crystal display device includes a driver driving a liquid crystal panel 102, a backlight unit 110, a first lamp driver 112, a second lamp driver 114, and a lamp driving controller 116. The liquid crystal panel 102 is divided into at least three regions, and has a plurality of lamps 101 arranged to correspond to each of the divided regions. In the backlight unit 110, the lamps arranged in upper and lower regions of the liquid crystal panel 102 are connected to each other. The first lamp driver 112 controls on/off times of the lamps in the upper and lower regions of the liquid crystal panel 102. The second lamp driver 114 controls on/off times of the lamps in the region excluding the upper and lower regions of the liquid crystal panel 102.
