<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a recording and reproducing device which facilitates management of recorded data. <P>SOLUTION: The recording and reproducing device having a network connection function monitors the network connection environment, transfers recorded data to an available server, and records the data on a local recording medium when there is no available server. In this regard, management information is updated appropriately thus obtaining a recording and reproducing device which manages recorded data while distributing. During recording, during reproduction or during stoppage of recording and reproduction, the recorded data is transferred automatically from the local recording medium to an available server, if any, while updating the management information appropriately and the residual capacity of the local recording medium is increased, or the data are transferred from a server to a server and unified automatically so that the recorded data are managed without bothering a user thus enhancing user-friendliness. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT |
