BIOMARKER FOR DETECTION OF ARTERIOSCLEROTIC DISEASE, AND METHOD FOR DETECTION OF ARTERIOSCLEROTIC DISEASE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an arteriosclerotic disease detection marker for diagnosing the onset and progress of arteriosclerotic diseases and evaluating the therapeutic effect on the diseases and the drug actions of preventive or therapeutic drugs, and to provide a detection method of arteriosclerotic diseases by detecting the marker. SOLUTION: A C-terminal moiety of a lipoprotein lipase (LPL) is detected or determined as a marker directly connected to the onset of arteriosclerotic diseases. For further detail, an LPL20 marker having a molecular size of 20 kDa and an LPL21 marker having a molecular size of 21 kDa which are essential for the formation and development of an atherosclerotic plaque secreted from monocyte-originated macrophage or adipose cell are detected or determined.
