<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a battery device with a simple construction capable of easily and securely detecting deterioration in performances of a plurality of battery packs connected in parallel. Ž<P>SOLUTION: To each of a plurality of battery packs connected in parallel are provided with a self-diagnosing function for determining deterioration of a battery cell and a monitor terminal which is normally pulled up at a predetermined voltage and is pulled down when deterioration of the battery cell is detected by the self-diagnosing function, respectively. The monitor terminal of each of these battery packs is connected to a signal line in parallel, and the number of the battery packs in which deterioration occurs is determined from a voltage of the signal line.
