Sheet guiding elements 10.1, 10.2 are linked together and are adjustably mounted on a cross-member 14 transverse to the sheet running direction 9. The first part 10.1 comprises a flexible elastic tube with openings 17 for directing blown air from a controllable supply 11 to the underside of the sheets. A seal 12 separates the air in part 10.1 from that in part 10.2, which comprises a hollow tubular element with openings 19 also directed to the underside of the sheets either side of a sheet brake 7, and has a controllable compressed air supply 13. The guide directs printed sheets (2, Fig 1) held in a gripper system (3) contact-free over a sheet brake 7 into a stack (5).
