PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a category identification apparatus capable of efficiently performing category estimation calculation by focusing and weighting a target classification when presetting a prior probability for each target classification while reducing a load imposed to an operator when manually inputting the prior probability.SOLUTION: The category identification apparatus calculates a prior probability in the following manner that, in order to focusing a target classification for sorting the category, limits a target classification which has a possibility to be observed at a detected target position from a database which records a detection target position, a piece of map information and a piece of cruisable distance information of each of the target classification, and performing a weighting to a target classification which has a high possibility to be detected in the vicinity of the target position by using a piece of map information and the cruisable distance information of each target classification and a piece of wide range information.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1 |
