PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electrically driven assist device for a wheelchair, a device that is inexpensive and can be easily attached to and detached from an existing wheelchair and that assists a helper when necessary.SOLUTION: An electrically driven assist device 80 for a wheelchair is made to selectively perform assisting operation when a helper needs it. In that regard, the device is not used in a flat ground or the like where no assistance is needed, but can be used in accordance with for example physical fitness of a helper. Also, it makes miniaturization and light weight possible for the electrically driven assist device 80 for a wheelchair, facilitating attachment, detachment and carrying relative to a manual wheelchair 10. Furthermore, this electrically driven assist device 80 for a wheelchair can be installed in almost all existing manual wheelchairs 10 by adjusting the length and height of a fitting bar 20.
