Bis-(pyridylmethyl)-amines are prepared by converting a pyridine aldehyde into the corresponding oxime, subjecting the oxime to hydrogenation, coupling the amine obtained without separation with a pyridine aldehyde, and hydrogenating the Schiffs base product of the coupling to give the bis-(pyridylmethyl)amine. The pyridine aldehyde starting material may be in the form of a salt and the hydrogenations are preferably effected catalytically using Raney nickel. |
