1,157,499. Cracking catalysts. STANDARD OIL CO. 20 Sept., 1966 [28 Sept., 1965 (2)], No. 41827/66. Heading B1E. A cracking catalyst consists essentially of a cocatalytic solid support containing a Group VIII metal, the support comprising (1) Al 2 O 3 and (2) mordenite, the mordenite having deposited thereon about 10 to about 1,000 ppm. by weight, based on mordenite, of an alkali metal, alkaline earth metal, or a mixture thereof, the catalyst being prepared by blending the mordenite having deposited thereon an alkali metal, alkaline earth metal, or mixture thereof with an alumina gel to form a mordenite-alumina blend and impregnating the -mordenite-alumina blend with a Group VIII metal or compound thereof. Preferably .the Al 2 O 3 is in γ- or eform and the supported metal is usually platinum, In examples the mordenite used is in the hydrogen, Na#, Ca##, Mg##, Al### and Ba## forms. Additionally the catalyst may be activated with a halogen or sulphur compound. Physical properties of the catalysts are disclosed. |
