Described are nematic liquid-crystal mixtures comprising a) at least one 4'-cyanophenyl 4-(C1-6-n-alkyl)cyclohexyl- carboxylate, or b) at least the two compounds of the formulae (III) and (IV), or c) at least the two compounds of the formulae (III) and (V). The meanings of the symbols X3 - X5 and Y are discernible from Claims 4 and 6. The nematic liquid-crystal mixtures are usable in liquid-crystal display units and have a positive dielectric anisotropy and a low viscosity. They are suitable for multiplex driving. <IMAGE>
