摘要 <p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a new polynucleotide having high homology to a nucleic acid encoding ASP2 polypeptide of a specific amino acid sequence in its whole length, useful for treating and diagnosing Alzheimer's disease, cancer, prohormone processing, etc. SOLUTION: This new isolated polynucleotide has a nucleotide sequence which has at least 80% homology to a nucleotide sequence encoding aspartic proteinase ASP2 polypeptide of the formula in its whole length and encodes a polypeptide having ASP2 polypeptide activity or a nucleotide sequence complementary to the nucleotide sequence and is useful for treating and diagnosing Alzheimer's disease, cancer, prohormone processing, etc., related to both an excessive amount and a deficient amount of ASP2 polypeptide activity. The polynucleotide is obtained by using a standard cloning and screening by an expression sequence tag(EST) analysis from a cDNA library derived from human pancreas and brain.</p>
