摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the new subject DNA encoding a polypeptide of an enzyme capable of transferring a sulfate group from a sulfate group donor to the 6-position OH of an N-sulfated glucosamine residue included in a sulfate group acceptor glycosaminoglycan. SOLUTION: This new DNA encodes a polypeptide of a sulfate group- transferring enzyme. The sulfate group-transferring enzyme has activities for selectively transferring a sulfate group from a sulfate group donor to the 6-position OH of an N-sulfated glucosamine residue included in sulfate group acceptor glycosaminoglycan. The enzyme can transfer the sulfate group to the 6-position hydroxide of the N-sulfated glucosamine residue of heparan sulfate CDSNS (completely desulfated N-sulfated)-heparin, and DAcNS(deacetylated N-sulfated)- heparosan, but does not transfer the sulfate group to chondroitin and keratan sulfate. The enzyme has 54,000-60,000 molecular weight as a calculated value, and 440-530 number of amino acids in the polypeptide composing the enzyme. The enzyme is obtained by screening a mouse cDNA library by using a probe.
