Polymetallic oxides suitable for use as catalysts in the dehydrogenation of propane to propene have a mean pore diameter of between 0.04 and 0.01 micron and a specific surface of at least 20 m<2>/g. The general formula of the oxides is Ma<1>Mo1-bMb<2>Ox. M<1> = Co, Ni, Mg, Zn, Mn and/or Cu, M<2> is W, V, Te, Nb, P, Cr, Fe, Sb, Ce, Sn and/or La, a is 0.5-1.5, b is 0-0.5. x has the value determined by the valency and oxidation number of the various element and s in the formula. |
