PURPOSE:To obtain a metal oxide-hydrogen battery having high safety, low self discharge, large capacity, and long life by using hydrogen storage alloy powder having a specified ingredient and conductive powder having a specified particle size as a negative electrode material. CONSTITUTION:A negative electrode 1 is formed in such a way that a rare earth element hydrogen storage alloy MNixCoyMnzAlw containing two or more rare earth elements including 0.1-12wt% Cerium, conductive powder such as acetylene black having a mean particle size of 10mum or less, and a binder such as polytetrafluoroethylene are kneaded and molded to form a sheet, then two sheets are pressed on both sides of a nickel net. The negative electrode 2 is insulated with a 0.3 mm thick polypropylene nonwoven fabric, and positive electrode 3 made of nickel oxide are arranged on both sides of the negative electrode 2, and they are compressed with a holder made of acrylic resin, and immersed in a KOH electrolyte to form a battery. |
