Regulating device for controlling the admission of liquid to the nozzles of the cutting drum of a shearer loader

Sprinkling liquid is admitted to the nozzles of cutting drums of this type during the drum rotation only when the nozzles are directed towards the part of the working face in front of the cutting drum. Each adjusting movement of the supporting arm of the cutting drum therefore requires a correction to the area of admission of liquid to the nozzles. A change in the area of admission of liquid to the nozzles is likewise required at the ends of the machine travelling track, because the shearer loader reverses its direction of travel here and the position of the working face changes with regard to the peripheral half of the cutting drums which faces the mineral. Two endless chains (14, 15) which run on sprockets (8, 9 and 13, 17 respectively) rotatably mounted on opposite sides of the supporting arm transmit the movement of a regulating drive (20), attached to the machine body in the area of the axis (4) of the swivel shaft (16), to the pipe (6) arranged concentrically to the drum axis (5) and feeding the sprinkling liquid into the drum interior. During swivelling movements of the supporting arm, the pipe (6), which determines the position of the area of admission of liquid to the cutting drum (2), is held in place by the regulating drive (20) and is rotated through 180@ by the regulating drive (20) when the direction of travel of the shearer loader (1) is changed. <IMAGE>
