Polymeric networks with superstructures are prepd. by polymerisation, polyaddn. or polycondensation of (a) functional pref. poly-functional, units with liq.-crystalline character, opt. with (b) functional, pref. poly-functional, units with or without liq.-crystalline character, within the liq.-crystalline, pref. nematic, temp. range of (a), to form polymers, opt. followed by hardening at temps. outside the liq.-crystalline range.
