Described is a foil bag (1) with a slit-shaped filling opening (3) formed by the foil edges (3a, 3b) which lie over each other and can be joined together to seal the opening. In order to be able to fill a bag of this kind more easily and with simpler filling equipment, the invention proposes that a stiffening element (5) be located immediately beyond one end of the slit-shaped filling opening and in line with the slit.
