The seat comprises a rigid assembly composed of two front members (1), a seat portion (2), armrests (3) and a back portion (4). The contact points (0, 0') of the front members with the ground are located forward of the seat portion and the assembly can pivot about said contact points. The rear members (7) and (8) are fitted with wheels (11) and (12) located rearward of the seat portion and designed to roll on the ground. The members are articulated on side elements (6) of the seat portion at (9) and (10) and are rotated by a motor, gear and chain system integral with the rigid assembly. The rotation causes the rear wheels to be drawn close to the front stationary end pieces (34) and (35), thereby raising, advancing and tilting the assembly.
