PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide the contrast device for the core wire of optical fiber in a wavelength-branching optical path, which can perform the contrasting of the core wire of the wavelength-branching optical path, even when a light branching element for branching in accordance with the wavelength of contrasting light is used on the optical path. SOLUTION: In a transmitting part 1, the trigger light of the wavelengthλ, which can commonly pass a plurality of wavelength-branching optical paths, is emitted from an LD 29. Thereafter, the light in the wavelength region, which can be branched into a plurality of wavelength-branching optical paths, is sequentially emitted from an SLD 35 with a given time interval being provided. The light having the specified wavelength among the wavelengths of the emitted lights is selected, made to pass through a variable wavelength filter 47 and outputted. In the meantime, in a receiving part, the time interval from the input of the trigger light, which is guided through a photodetector provided on the wavelength-branching optical path, to the input of the contrast light is measured, and the contracting of the core wire of the wavelength-branching optical path is performed from the measured time interval.
