PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a more simplified and well controlled iodine laser generation device, wherein the energy of excited oxygen is used for iodine excitation as effectively as possible by directly supplying iodine atoms to an excited oxygen atmosphere. SOLUTION: An iodine evaporator 1 is provided for the generation of an iodine molecular stream by carrying with an inert gas iodine molecules which have been evaporated from solid or liquid state iodine. A high-frequency discharger 2, which is able to dissociate the iodine atoms by permitting a high-frequency electric field or a microwave electric field to act on the iodine molecular stream, is provided downstream of the iodine evaporator 1. An iodine injector 4, which is able to produce excited iodine atoms by mixing the iodine atoms into an introduced excited oxygen atmosphere, is provided further downstream. In a laser resonator 5, the resulting excited iodine atoms release energy, thereby generating a laser beam. |
