DYNAMIC MEMORY ALLOCATION

摘要

Buffer memory is dynamically assigned to a number of users according to demand so as to increase the efficiency of use of the memory device. Each user is assigned a plurality of, not necessarily sequential, memory means which are linked by a pointer table and used by the user as if they were sequential, thereby achieving maximum usage of the buffer memory device. Particular application is in a computer network device where a single memory device provides buffering for the outgoing transmission on the ports.
