PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To impart an illumination structure enabling image observation in a dark environment without damaging the image quality in a bright environment, to a reflection type display device. SOLUTION: This reflection type display device is composed of a panel 0, a light transmission plate 20 and a light source 30. The light transmission plate 20 is disposed outside the panel 0 and the light source 30 is disposed at the end part of the light transmission plate 20 and generates illumination light at need. While the light transmission plate 20 normally transmits external light, makes it incident on the panel 0 and emits reflected external light, it transmits the illumination light, makes it incident on the panel 0 and emits reflected illumination light at need. The light transmission plate 20 is provided with flat parts 22 divided in a belt shape and inclined parts 21 positioned between the respective flat parts, reflects the illumination light led from the light source 30 at the respective inclined parts 21, makes it incident on the panel 0 and also emits the illumination light reflected from the panel 0 from the respective flat parts 22 and the inclined parts 21. The width dimension L1 of the flat part 22 is set to be not less than 20 folds of the width dimension L2 of the inclined part 21 and the double projection of virtual images and real images is practically dissolved. |
