PURPOSE: An actuator is provided to drive a holding chuck of a working object to a clamping position to hold tight the cylindrical working object in a building machine. CONSTITUTION: An actuator comprises:a carrier(38) of a thrusting member installed to rotate frontward and the backward for an anchor member about an arch-typed path to approach the carrier for at least certain time of the frontward and the backward rotating movements or to retreat from the anchor member; at least one thrusting member(42) installed on the carrier, and to be able to move toward the anchor member or apart therefrom together with the carrier for the rotating movements frontward and backward of the carrier; and a device for locking to fix the carrier in the frontward rotating position, and to prevent the rotating movement of the carrier falling from the anchor member.
