The invention relates to a method for driving out ammonia from an activated polysaccharide, especially activated cellulose. According to this method, the ammonia-containing activated polysaccharide is transferred into an inert liquid of a high enough temperature to rapidly drive out the ammonia, especially more than approximately 60 DEG C. The inert liquid used is especially a high-boiling aromatic liquid, preferably xylol. The ammonia-containing activated cellulose is preferably introduced into the hot inert liquid at a temperature of less than approximately 15 DEG C, the inert liquid having a temperature of between approximately 80 DEG C and 120 DEG C. The inventive method is simple, rapid and very efficient without impairing the state of activation of the polysaccharide being treated. |
