<p>A messaging system for transferring messages between any two of a plurality of user machines. The system includes a message manager (112) for overseeing secure message operations. The message manager (112) is associated with a management database (114) which stores separate secure channel properties for each message channel between the manager (112) and each of the user machines. Additionally, per user machine, the device includes a local secure message processor (130) which secures messages. The local processor (130) is associated with a local database (122). The local database (122) stores secure channel properties per channel between the user machine and each other user machine with which the user machine communicates, including the manager (112).</p> |
