PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a control device and a control method with favorable startability capable of reducing a feed of a high temperature intake air mixture, avoiding an unstable combustion and realizing a high accurate combustion control in a combustion engine using a fuel of which the ignitability is deficient or a combustion speed is low as a main fuel. SOLUTION: The combustion engine using a fuel of which an ignition property is deficient or a combustion speed is slow as a main fuel includes a combustion promoter feed means 8A for feeding a combustion promoter for promoting a combustion into intake air; a combustion promoter mixing means 7 for mixing a combustion gas and the combustion promoter; a state judgment means 10 detecting a combustion state and judging a quality of a starting state and an operation state based on this information; and a combustion promoter feed amount control means 12A for stopping a feed of the combustion promoter in the case where the starting state or the operation state is good. The state judgment means 10 and the combustion promoter feed amount control means 12A can increase/reduce an amount of combustion promoter corresponding to a degree of quality of the starting state and the operation state.
