A cooling device of a linear motor, comprising a stator having a permanent magnet (5) and a field yoke (6), a rotor having an armature (2) with an armature coil (7) wound on a core (3), and a cooling unit (10), wherein the cooling unit (10) is formed of a block-shaped high thermal conductive member, detachable from an armature mounting plate (4), and disposed on a table (14) through a space, a plurality of heat pipes (11) are installed in the cooling unit (10), the heat receiving parts of the heat pipes (11) are disposed on the longitudinal center side of the armature (2) so that heat radiation parts are positioned on the longitudinal end side of the armature (2), and a finned heat sink (13) is installed on the heat pipes (11) in contact with the outer peripheral surfaces thereof for disposing the heat radiation side thereon, whereby the cooling device of the linear motor capable of eliminating maintenance and increasing the cooling performance of the armature can be provided at a low cost.
