PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prepare a hair cosmetic capable of imparting especially flexibility, smoothness and oily feeling when hair is wet, and further smoothness, softness and a good coming property after the hair is dried, to the hair. SOLUTION: The hair cosmetic contains at least one kind selected from quaternary ammonium salts expressed by formula (I) [wherein, R<1> is an 8-30C alkyl or alkenyl; Y is a 1-10C alkylene or alkenylene; R<2> is a 1-24C alkyl or alkenyl, or hydroxyalkyl or a group of formula (II) (wherein, R<1> and Y are same as defined before); R<3> and R<4> are each a 1-24C alkyl or alkenyl, or a hydroxyalkyl; and<-> is an anion].
