PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To control the use of a sheet on a printer only for a thermal transfer sheet with a certified quality guarantee issued by a printer manufacturer and prevent the deterioration of printing quality and also the deterioration of a thermal head. SOLUTION: A thermal transfer sheet is provided with a certification card formed of a thermal transfer sheet 8 and a certification card 9 combined together as a pair, and the number of usable pictures and codes certifying that the certification card is a correct card certified by a printer manufacturer are recorded on the certification card by an invisible mark, and the certification card is fitted on a card reaching machine to sense the invisible mark. In the case the certification card is judged to be correct by the arrangement, a thermal printer in the state of setting the thermal transfer sheet thereon is actuated. As the thermal transfer sheet and the certification card are combined together by 1:1, the correct certification card means that the thermal transfer sheet is an authorized genuine product.
