<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a piezoelectric oscillator driving an object to be driven without deteriorating a driving force of a part that is brought into contact with the object to be driven. <P>SOLUTION: The piezoelectric oscillator is provided with a piezoelectric element and provided with a shim having an external wall and an upper face to which the piezoelectric element is fitted. A longitudinal elastic coefficient in a first rigid direction with which an angle having a first direction of moving the object to be driven in the piezoelectric oscillator has a value different from a direction different from the first rigid direction. The object to be driven energizes the external wall in a second direction vertical to the first direction. When a voltage is applied to the piezoelectric element while a driving frequency is changed so that bending mode oscillation is excited without exciting expansion/contraction mode oscillation, a resonance frequency of the expansion/contraction mode oscillation of the piezoelectric oscillator is set to be near an intermediate value of first and second driving frequencies at which an amplitude in the first direction at a point where the object to be driven energizes the external wall becomes the largest. When the object to be driven moves to the first direction, an AC voltage where a first or second driving frequency is set to be the driving frequency is applied. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT |
