The present invention relates to a novel ligand compound, a transition metal compound, and a catalyst composition comprising the same. According to the present invention, the novel ligand compound and the transition metal compound can be usefully used as catalysts in a polymerization reaction for manufacturing an olefin-based polymer having low density in comparison to a CGC catalyst. Moreover, the olefin-based polymer polymerized using the catalyst composition comprising the transition metal compound can be used to manufacture a product having a low melt index (MI) and a high molecular weight. The transition metal compound is represented by chemical formula 1. The ligand compound is represented by chemical formula 2.
