PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical module having high reliability at a low cost and capable of being easily connected to an optical transmission line. SOLUTION: The optical module 2A has a substrate 6 being loaded on a lead frame and having a plurality of conductive patterns, an optical element 10 being mounted on the substrate 6 and conducting conversion between light and electricity, a sleeve 22 having a first end adjacent to the optical element 10 loaded on the substrate 6, and a light-transmitting first resin 18 sealing the optical element 10 so that a projecting section is formed at the first end of the sleeve 22. The conductive patterns of the substrate 6 and the leads 4a of the lead frame 4 are connected by wires 20. The optical module 2A further has a second resin 24 molded so as to surround the substrate 6, the optical element 10, the sleeve 22, the light-transmitting first resin 18, the wires 20 and the lead frame 4 with the exception of the sleeve 22 and a part of the leads 4a. |
